Activities

Extra –curricular activities

Numerous cultural competitions are conducted to bring out the innate talents of the students and facilities are provided for the following sports-volleyball, throw ball, shuttlecock, table tennis, tennicoit and kabaddi.

 

Science Association
The association tries to promote and generate interest among the students regarding many aspects of science – to develop scientific knowledge and nurture innovative thinking to serve both science and society.

Spandana – The wall Magazine
Adolescence is the crucial phase of one’s life during when one forms long lasting views and opinions on the various aspects of life and society.  The wall magazine helps to translate students’ ideas and views into artistic and literary expressions in various languages such as English, Kannada, Hindi and Sanskrit.  These are displayed on weekly basis and the best ones find their way into Sharadi- the college magazine.  

 

Sourabha The Cultural Association
This association gives students umpteen opportunities to showcase their intellectual and aesthetic capabilities through different competitions conducted for two days.  It also motivates the students to participate  in different inter-collegiate competitions throughout the academic year.

 

Parent Teachers Council :

The parents and the teachers function tirelessly under the banner of P.T.A, to bring forth into society well educated and socially responsible students. All the parents enrolled as members extend a helping hand in realizing the aims and objectives of the college.   P.T.A Meetings are conducted regularly after each examination and as and when an occasion calls for it.  The P.T.C. is the executive committee of the P.T.A.

 

Student Council :

It is a representative body of the entire student community  of the college.  The members exhibit excellent cooperative spirit in streamlining the functioning of the college.  It helps them gain organizational abilities and leadership qualities.

 

Commerce Association :

With the changing times the trends too change.  Commerce and Management have opened up a new vista of opportunities to the aspiring and ambitious students.  The Commerce Association functions with an intention to groom the commerce students with the right tools and skills needed to face the global challenges and the consequent societal transformation.  This is realized by organizing various programmes like seminars, fests, factory visits, guest lectures etc.

 

Hindi Association :

Our country being a unique, multi-lingual nation, Hindi, the national language,  serves as an important lingua franca.  The Hindi Department, ably headed by Smt.  Dr. Manorama Nautiyal and efficiently supported by two other lecturers, endeavours to equip students with excellent soft skills.  Under  its banner Hindi Association organizes many literary and cultural activities.  It also exposes students to functional areas of applied linguistics like letter writing, translation preparation for Radio programmes and Dramatics. We celebrate Hindi Day in the month of September.

 

Sanskrith Association :

The Association strives to uphold the uniqness of Sanskrit.  It manifests in all the activates  held round the academic year.  The Association  functions under the guidance of sri Ramesh Acharya.  Every year Samkrithotsava is conducted in the month of Shravana.  Essay writing, Quiz, Pick and Speak, poetry writing etc.  competitions are held to promote Sanskrit.  In connection  with Samkrithotsava and College day celebrations, cultural programmes  that reflect the greatness of Sanskrit are organized.  The fresh  learners of sanskrit at PU level are given individual attention and are rendered a helping hand to perform well in the different examinations held by Sura Saraswathi Sabha ® , Shringeri.  The Association also  helps students with good score in sankrit  to receive scholarships from Rashtriya  Samskritha Samsthe, New Delhi.  The best performer in sanskrith in the II P.U.  Board examination is awarded a  cash prize.  Students willing to participate in various intercollegiate Sanskrit competitions also receive special and individual help from the Association . 

 

Sthithi – Eco Club :

It functions with the motto “Science to sustain Life and not to sabotage Life”.   With a view to sensitizing the students to  the crying need of environmental protection,  the eco club was founded.

 

Sports:

Students are encouraged to practice and compete in both indoor and outdoor games. They are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate, state and national level competitions. Students have proved their mettle in various sports events and games, up to the national level.  Our foot ball team has been selected to participate in the SGFI National level foot ball tournament to be held at Portblair, Andaman.

 

The Taste of India :

Festivals are a part of Indian life.  The variety and  significance of the festivals are  woven into the vibrant social life of India. The college celebrates the following festivals with great fervour-Independence Day,Republic Day,Deepavali and Bharat Mata Pooja,Teachers’ Day,Hindi Day,Samskritotsava,Sharada Mahotsava,Kreedotsava,College Day.
